Hiatus = New Workouts + Fashion Hauls

So I took a break from the blogger world, but that does not mean I took a break from my fitness routine, eating healthy (most the time - damn vodka and wine!) and I have a bit of a vacation fashion haul as I have done a little bit of shopping for my trip to the Gulf of Florida. Speaking of which I leave in 8 days! Yay!!!

Ok, so fitness! I ran my first race of the year a couple weeks ago and I am proud to say I placed top three in my gender & age group at this 5K! There is always room for improvement though ;)

I am obsessed with the Nike + running app. I have an iphone 5 in a Lifeproof cover. So I purchased the Lifeproof armband around Valentine's Day while they were offering a discount. Those items can be found in the following link and not just for iphone 5, but for all iphones and ipads too.
www.lifeproof.com/en/
While in a Lifeproof cover your phone is protected if dropped in water, snow and mud.

The Nike + app is free in your app store. It tracks your run so that when you are finished you can see the route you took. You can set it prior to your run to either run a distance, for a length of time, to reach a certain speed or to simply do a basic run that you can end at any time. The app will let you know when you have hit mile markers by speaking over your music in your earbuds. The voice will let you know the pace of your last mile and the overall pace of your run. Once you have finished your run you enter information of your run to be stored like what kind of surface you were running on (road, trail, beach, etc), how you felt about your run (indicated by emoticon faces) and which of your running shoes you were in so that you can track the miles in any given pair. Of course like most apps, you can link it with facebook and share your runs so that your friends can cheer you on during your run.

Last night I used my First Shot Free at Title Boxing Club to help me to decide whether or not to purchase the Groupon for two weeks of classes. I bought the groupon right after the class. It kicked my ass! And I loved it! There's a location close to me so I can run there for an hour long class and then run or walk (more likely walk) back home. It's high intensity and you don't stop. The instructor was hard core and encouraging, talking about getting us bikini ready. Once I get back from Florida and audition for a summer musical, I'll see what my schedule is like so I can decide when to start that two weeks. My only complaint is that they only offer a 6am kickboxing class on Fridays. The rest of the mornings it's boxing. With my busy schedule I need the 6am offering.

Fashion! And actually there will more to come with pictures as I did a little shopping last weekend with my Mom and intend to hunt of jean capris again this weekend before our trip.
I did just order this gauzy mint green infinity scarf from David & Young online.

Mint and coral seem to the colors of the spring and I absolutely adore mint green. There's something innocent and playful about it.

There will be more to come soon! Keep running! Remember a bad run is better than no run at all.

Motivation

After a run today at my gym while doing legs, a lady noticed I was circuit training and we teamed up to trade off machines. Awesome!!

Start of the day

Added fresh blueberries from my local grocers to my breakfast protein smoothie today. Yum!!

Last night I met my Mom at our gym after work. We got in 60 minutes of cardio and then we hit up the smoothie shoppe near by for post workout protein smoothies. I had an almond milk, chocolate whey and banana smoothie. She went with a standard strawberry banana favorite also with almond milk.

Today my body is a little achy from either the running the last few days in a row, my bed or both. So for my lunchtime workout I'll start on the treadmill and see how it goes. May end up lifting and doing abs.

I have less than two months now to lose some more lbs and tone up before my beach vacation. Detox is coming too. Mint leaves have been scarce. There is the sugar free cranberry juice detox drink too. Plan for Monday for that to start.
Also race day is one month from today! I need to focus on my times and for the love of goodness the snow needs to melt so I can run outdoors again!! Sounds like the highs and some rain should do the trick this weekend. Hoping for an outdoor run next week.

My Birthday... Nearly a Month Ago

The night if my birthday I had a performance of the Odd Couple (Female Version) so a group of my friends came to the show. Afterwards we went to a nearby bar for drinks with my cast and other friends who had come to see the show and lived more in that area which is 40 minutes from where I live. Then noticing the late hour and knowing we had a drive we left and booked it to our hometown to hit up a bar downtown. Time was passing and my friends decided I was too sober so shots it was! Our group grew and I ran into an old college friend outside while leaving. The evening continued at a friends house and we'll leave it at that. All in all it was a good birthday.

Winter storms!!!

So Winter Storm Q threw me off blogging last week and incoming Winter Storm Rocky will interrupt this week, but the progress still goes on!
I have been researching various HIIT jump rope routines after my jump rope workout this past weekend. My calves are sore as are the middle of my feet. I'm looking to change up my routine this week.
http://www.projectswole.com/conditioning/9-routines-for-jumping-rope-with-power-and-endurance/
This ^ site provided 9 routines to rotate through and provided great information on why jumping rope is an effective workout.
Also I am including in my weekend workout my sledding session with my best friends kids. Climbing back up that steep hill pulling children on the sled behind me counts for something!

Detox Drink

60 oz distilled or pure water
1 Tablespoon sugar free cranberry juice
1 dandelion root tea bag (found at The Vitamin Shoppe, GNC and sometimes in Walmart's tea section)
2 Tablespoons lemon juice

Drink 60 oz everyday for 7 days. Do not exceed the 7 day mark as doing so could disrupt your electrolyte balance. Do only every few months. A good jump start to getting back on track after a vacation or if you're just starting to get into a healthier routine. Still eat your correct calorie intake for weight lose success (suggestion below*). You can take this on your smart phone using the Fitness Pal app. You may still drink other liquids, but avoid sugary drinks. During and after the detox drink consume regular water.

*Your calorie intake equation should look like this - 12 x your goal body weight, adjusting weekly according to progress

Now to leave work as my boss just told me to get the hell out of here to be safe and snowed in for a few days!!

Sledding after Round One!!

A snow plow stuck in the middle of an intersection!

And a joke forecast for the next storm that was made days ago. It's looking worse than this now

Quickie Update

Scarf from Walmart $4.96! My style.
Beautiful day! I think a walk/jog lunch outside is in order and then it's a mother/daughter gym session after work.
Yesterday I picked up biotin and dandelion root to add to my daily supplements. I'm about to take some airborne as someone in the office has a flu sick child and I have three days of performances coming up and a night of debauchery 😉
